Digital Product Passport QR codes and stable hosted product records
The QR code is the physical bridge to a Digital Product Passport. The durable destination behind it matters more than the graphic itself.
Use a stable URL
Avoid encoding a temporary file or campaign page. Use a durable product URL that can display the current approved passport without replacing the printed code.
Keep lifecycle information available
A discontinued or recalled product can still need an accessible record. Its status should change without breaking the QR destination.
Separate identifier and URL
A product identifier and the web address resolving to its passport serve related but distinct purposes and should be modelled separately.
