The EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation—ESPR—has been in force since 18 July 2024 and is changing how products are designed, documented and understood.
Its goal is straightforward: products that last longer, are easier to repair and recycle, and come with reliable information about their materials, origins and environmental performance.
For many product categories, that information will be carried in a Digital Product Passport. The requirements are being introduced progressively, product group by product group, with specific compliance dates following the relevant EU rules.
