PASSPORT PREPARATION SERVICE

You bring the product data.
We prepare the passports.

From your first product model to 10,000 individual batteries: we help organise the information, prepare your DPPora workspace and hand over passports your team can maintain.

A separately quoted preparation project, with an ongoing platform subscription.

18.02.2027

Preparing for 18 February 2027?

The battery-passport requirement applies from this date to EV batteries, LMT batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh placed on the market or put into service. Your project scope and timing depend on the category, available data and agreed work.

Carbon-footprint, recycled-content and due-diligence information are not required for the February 2027 passport launch. They follow separate application schedules; applicable due-diligence reporting starts in August 2027.

THE INITIAL PROJECT

We do the setup work. You approve the result.

We agree the scope after reviewing a sample of your information. A large serial list does not have to mean thousands of manual entries.

  1. 01

    Organise the source information

We review your product models, serial lists, images and supporting evidence, map supplied information to the applicable passport fields and identify gaps for you to resolve.

  2. 02

    Prepare the workspace and drafts

We configure the agreed company and product records, organise supplied documents and prepare individual draft passports from your manufacturer serial numbers. Shared model details are copied into each item.

  3. 03

    Review, approve and deliver

Your nominated team checks the information and resolves outstanding questions. Where included in the agreed scope, we publish approved records and deliver QR-code files with a serial-to-passport mapping.

  4. 04

    Hand over to your team

We provide the agreed handover session and show your team how to find, edit and maintain its records. Your workspace stays under your organisation’s control.

A CLEAR DIVISION OF WORK

A one-off preparation service. Ongoing ownership stays clear.

Agreed preparation work

  • Workspace and product-model setup
  • Preparation of the agreed individual drafts
  • Customer review and approval before publication
  • Agreed QR delivery and team handover

After handover

  • The responsible economic operator remains responsible for accurate, complete and up-to-date information.
  • Your team maintains applicable performance and lifecycle data, corrections and supporting evidence.
  • Repurposing or remanufacturing requires a new passport linked to the previous passport. If a battery has become waste, preparation for reuse or repurposing also requires a new linked passport. Simple repair does not. A new responsible operator normally takes over.
  • Routine amendments, telemetry integrations and future lifecycle work are outside the initial package unless separately agreed.

DPPora continues to provide the platform under the applicable subscription terms. Preparation is not certification, legal advice or a guarantee of compliance. Written authorisation and appropriate account access are agreed where we act on your behalf.

LET’S SCOPE YOUR PROJECT

Tell us what you need prepared.

We will review your requirements and reply by email with questions or a proposed scope and quote. This is an enquiry, not an order.

Your quote considers

  • Number of product models and individual passports
  • How complete and organised your source data is
  • Documents, languages and access requirements
  • QR delivery, integrations and your target date

The one-off preparation fee and ongoing platform subscription are quoted separately. Timing is confirmed after scope review.

Before you request a quote

Can you prepare 10,000 battery passports?

We can scope a project around a manufacturer serial list and shared model information. Workload depends on the number of models, data quality, supporting documents and requested delivery. We confirm capacity and timing in the quote; a serial number alone does not make a complete passport.

Do we need a new GS1 number for every battery?

For a GS1-style identity, the model’s GTIN is combined with each manufacturer-assigned serial number. GS1 licence requirements still apply where relevant. We review the appropriate identity approach as part of setup.

Do you collect or certify the underlying evidence?

We organise information and evidence that you supply and identify missing information. Laboratory testing, independent verification and certification are not included. You review and approve the content before publication.

Who updates the passports afterwards?

Your team, or the responsible economic operator at that lifecycle stage, maintains the required information. Ongoing updates and integrations can be discussed separately; they are not automatically included in the initial preparation fee.

Does this replace a DPPora subscription?

No. Preparation is a separately quoted service. A suitable ongoing platform subscription is required for the agreed hosting and published-passport capacity.

How often must battery lifecycle data be updated?

Update relevant dynamic data when a status change occurs or is considered. More frequent monitoring can be needed where feasible and proportionate; continuous real-time telemetry is not universally required. Offline battery servicing can be an appropriate update point. New batteries may initially lack use-generated data, but status and applicable performance and durability values must be provided.

Is all battery passport information public?

No. Public information and restricted information have different audiences. DPPora’s existing controls cover organisation-reviewed authority access to compliance test reports; other restricted access rights await final EU rules. These controls are not EU verification or a guarantee of compliance with the forthcoming access act. Do not publish confidential evidence in the public record.

Does automatic translation ensure language compliance?

No. Non-language-neutral information must meet the language requirements of the Member State where the battery is marketed. The responsible economic operator must check the required languages and translation accuracy. Multilingual display alone does not establish compliance.
