EU DIGITAL PRODUCT PASSPORT REGISTRY

The official index for Digital Product Passports—not the passport database.

The European Commission's Registry records product-passport identifiers and registration metadata. The complete passport remains with the responsible economic operator or its chosen hosting provider.

HOW THE SYSTEM IS DIVIDED

One passport. Two separate layers.

The Registry is an EU-level index. It does not replace the hosted passport that people open from the product's QR code.

EU DPP Registry

Stores the unique product and operator identifiers, registration data and other metadata required by the applicable legislation.

Hosted Digital Product Passport

Contains the detailed product, material, sustainability, repair, recycling and evidence information. This remains decentralised.

Responsible economic operator

The manufacturer, importer or other applicable economic operator remains responsible for accuracy, registration and compliance.

CURRENT OPERATIONAL POSITION

Documented workflows and DPPora’s current limits.

For economic operators

The Commission documents organisation enrolment and passport registration and management. We have not repeated an authenticated production registration test since September 2026.

  • The organisation must enrol under its own legal identity.
  • Verification uses the permitted electronic identity methods set out in the Registry implementing act and Commission guidance.
  • The economic operator remains responsible for its products and passport records.
  • Passport registration depends on the applicable product rules and available Registry functionality.
For DPP service providers

The September 2026 Help Desk response concerned Registry provider recognition and submission authority. It does not prohibit written authorisation to create or update battery passport data.

  • At our September 2026 check, no formal Registry provider-recognition application route was available; current availability must be checked with the Commission.
  • Our September 2026 check did not identify an official list of verified providers. Commercial hosting is not EU approval.
  • Written authorisation may cover creation and updating of battery passport data. It does not itself establish authority to perform Registry actions.
  • The Batteries Regulation does not define solution providers as a separate regulated role. Future ESPR provider rules must be distinguished from battery passport preparation.

DPPORA'S POSITION

Prepared for the Registry without overstating what is available.

DPPora provides the decentralised passport layer and prepares businesses for the official registration workflow.

What DPPora has completed

  • Enrolled and tested in the Commission's separate Registry acceptance environment.
  • Implemented stable passport URLs, GS1 Digital Link-style resolution and branded resolver links.
  • Structured passport identifiers, operator information and registration-related fields.
  • Reviewed the production Registry and confirmed the available enrolment roles with the Commission Help Desk.

What DPPora does now

  • Creates, hosts and maintains detailed Digital Product Passports.
  • Helps economic operators prepare identifiers, product data and supporting evidence.
  • Does not currently submit customer passports to the EU Registry. Hosting or publishing in DPPora is not EU registration.
  • Leaves legal responsibility and any current Registry action with the responsible economic operator.

DPPora has not enrolled Faro Digital Media as the economic operator responsible for customers’ products and has not submitted a production provider application. Customers retain responsibility for applicable Registry registration.
